Job description:

  • Working within a fast-pace production environment, you will be required to use tools & equipment to process animals (pigs) following the kill. You will be required to rotate around different tasks in the abattoir as required so a flexible attitude towards work is required
  • We also welcome applications from experienced Slaughter Operatives to perform the kill

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys working to targets in a fast paced environment
  • Possesses high standards of work
  • Has a basic level of both written and verbal English
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Ideally has experience working within the food production industry, however this is not necessary as full training will be provided

 

Shifts: 

  • 48 hours (standard), 2 breaks x 30 min
  • Monday – Friday: 07.00am – 19.45pm
*Please note that you must be willing to work until finishing time
*Flexibility is required from everyone to work until finish time each working day
*Possibility to work more than 48 hours

Pay rate:

If you are a fully skilled slaughter operative:

  • £1000 sign-on bonus*
  • £17.50 / h (including attendance bonus*)
  • *£16.50 /h (if you are fully skilled) – this pay rate is for fully skilled and experienced Slaughter Operatives (who will not need training)
  • +1.00/h bonus to up to standard hours of 48 if no absence in a working week and full 48 hours are worked – bonus stops at 48 hours and is not paid on overtime
  • Overtime paid at time and a third (£21.99 – £23.33/ overtime hour)

*The sign-on bonus is payable to fully licenced slaughter operatives and EV operatives within the Abattoir  (typically grades A & C of the pay matrix for the Butchery and Abattoir departments), it will be a total gross payment of £1000 per person

 

If you are not fully skilled:

  • £500 sign-on bonus*
  • £10.88 / h  + attendance bonus
  • +1.00/h (attendance) bonus to up to standard hours of 48 if no absence in a working week and full 48 hours are worked – bonus stops at 48 hours and is not paid on overtime

*If you do have some experience in an abattoir /  slaughter  environment, we can offer you a job on a lower grade of pay and trained up to the maximum grade if you have the right attitude. The company will support you to reach the higher grades of pay as quickly as possible

*Minimum pay for someone with basic knife experience is £10.88 / h  + attendance bonus (that is £11.88 / h including the attendance bonus).

*The sign-on bonus will be payable in two instalments: the first half following completion of 1 month’s employment, the second half following completion of 4 months’ employment. This 4-month period is known as the ‘reference period’. The bonus will be payable only where all full scheduled shifts have been worked during the reference period. Any absence during this time will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in either part, or all of the sign-on bonus being withheld.
